Addition Top-It!

We recently learned the game Addition Top-It during an Everyday Math lesson.  On math game day, we had an Addition Top-It championship.  Students faced each other until we had two top winners.  These two winners were Marcelo and Alize.  They competed for the title of Addition Top-It Champion.

Both boys played hard.  In the end, Marcelo was crowned as the new Addition Top-It Champion!

Mystery Reader #2

On September 17th, we had our second mystery reader.  Here are the clues we were given to try and guess who our reader was:

1.  Oh the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss is my favorite book.

2.  I love to read to children, especially my own.

3.  People sometimes call me the boss.

4.  Michael Recycle is my hero.

5.  J. Henry Cochran is my favorite place to work, especially when I am not in the principal's office.

Most of us were able to guess who this mystery person was.  Can you?

It was....

Habitats

We are learning about habitats. The first habitat is rain forests. It rains every day in a rain forest. There are lots of species of plants and animals. It can be very hot, because they are found near the equator. The trees shade the ground. The biggest rain forest is called the Amazon and is in Brazil. Lots of rain forests are being cut down and burned. A piranha has a red belly and is very dangerous. There are lots of kinds of butterflies.

We showed Mrs. Beiter's class the scarecrow that we made. We told the kindergartners how to make a scarecrow.
